Horizontal wrinkles across the forehead might develop naturally, but they also age your face quickly. You may notice you have vertical creases in between your brows, and sometimes your face may droop on one side more than the other.
Instead of living with a permanent scowl, you can correct it with a procedure known as the brow lift.
A brow lift, also called a forehead lift, is a facial rejuvenation procedure that makes you look more youthful. When a qualified surgeon performs the procedure, you can correct drops in the face that come with age.
A brow lift corrects the horizontal wrinkles along the forehead and the vertical lines running between your brows. If your eyebrows sit lower due to excess skin over the eyelids, they will lift back up and take a more natural shape. Also, you will correct the beautiful, natural arches of your eyebrows.
There are two types of brow lifts: endoscopic and surgical. An endoscopic brow lift corrects the signs of aging and restores your forehead to a smooth, elevated appearance.
Reducing sags in the forehead and around the brows reduces frown lines. An aesthetically correct forehead and brow would have eyebrows that sit just above the eye socket, and your brow tail is sitting slightly higher than the inner portion of your eye.
To see if you are a candidate for a brow lift, you are welcome to meet with a surgeon from UELC. Most patients undergoing this procedure have descended brows, flatted or sloped brow arches, multiple wrinkles along the forehead, and excess skin that is coming down over their eyelids.
Most patients are middle-aged or older because the wrinkles and skin drooping do not typically occur until this stage. Also, the ideal candidate is healthy enough for surgery and fit. If you are a smoker, you must quit at least 2 weeks before and not resume until 4 weeks post-op.
A brow lift recovery comes in multiple stages. First, you rest in the recovery room of the centre. Once your anesthesia wears off, and your vitals are regular, you go home the same day.
Once home, plan to relax and not do anything strenuous. You will see your surgeon in 1 to 2 days after the procedure. Expect some bruising and swelling around your eyes while the tissues heal.
One week after your procedure, you will have another follow-up. Most patients return to work 7 to 14 days after the procedure. Some return to work earlier when they are not worried about the bruising. You can only do light exercise the first week after surgery, but you can resume heavy exercise 4 to 6 weeks after.
You may notice that your brows look higher than expected at first. This is normal, but eventually, the brow will settle from gravity. Your surgeon will continue to meet with you for post-op appointments at 6 weeks and 6 months to ensure the lift progresses to where it should.
If you are interested in a brow lift, you must schedule a consultation with a UELC surgeon.
