These procedures focus on reshaping the cornea to change where light focuses on the retina or replacing the lens completely. Depending on your need, there are different procedures catered to help you.

Laser Eye Treatment Procedures

• Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) – Lasik treatment is used to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. The procedure involves creating a hinged flap of tissue in the cornea so the surgeon can access the tissue behind the cornea and reshape it, allowing them to improve how light is focused. In a traditional Lasik procedure, the flap is created with a thin blade called a microkeratome. Advancements in laser technology have created the ability for a bladeless, completely laser-based procedure which has been shown to heal faster and provide better results.
• Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) – PRK also treats nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. For this procedure, the surface layer of the cornea is removed, and the corneal bed is then reshaped. This type of vision correction is generally used for individuals who have a thin cornea which may not safely allow the necessary flap required for Lasik to be created. It is equally as safe as a Lasik procedure.
• Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) – Individuals who are not suitable for Lasik or PRK treatments may be candidates for RLE. This procedure is often performed on those who are between 45 and 75 and are suffering from a loss of close vision due to aging, or a severe level or farsightedness. During this procedure, an incision is made in the cornea, and the natural lens of the eye is removed. It is then replaced with an artificial lens that permanently corrects your vision issues. The lens will remain in your eye without needing any follow up care after surgery. The recovery process will take approximately a week before you can return to your regular activities and your eyes heal.
