UltraView Freedom™ Eye Surgery offers patients a highly efficient and safe path to improved vision. The process is designed to maximize convenience and minimize downtime from the initial consultation to the actual procedure. The pre-surgery evaluation ensures each patient’s eyes are stable and well-suited for the procedure, with customized mapping playing a crucial role in tailoring the treatment to individual needs. With the surgery typically taking ten to fifteen minutes, UltraView Freedom™ stands out for its speed, and recovery is speedy, allowing most patients to return to their regular routine in just a few days.

Pre-Surgery Consultation and Evaluation Time

The first visit is a comprehensive six-dimensional consultation, during which we perform a complete eye exam, similar to what an optometrist would do. If everything is stable, including the patient’s prescription from the last two to three years, we book the surgery. If we can schedule it for the following month, we move forward. There is just one more follow-up required before the laser surgery to perform customized mapping of the eyes with a specialized machine. If everything continues to look stable, additional visits are not necessary. However, if I notice issues like prescription instability or dryness, I schedule follow-ups—typically one or two months apart, depending on the severity.

Duration of the LASIK Procedure

The procedure itself typically takes at most ten to fifteen minutes.

Post-Surgery Recovery Time

For LASIK, the recovery is quick. If we perform the procedure on a Friday, patients are typically back to normal by Monday and can work on the computer for long hours, even up to 14 or 15 hours a day. However, with PRK, the recovery is different. After the procedure, we place a bandage contact lens on the eye because the first layer of the cornea is removed. It takes about two days for that layer to regenerate, so I recommend taking five days off for PRK recovery. I also provide a work note if needed. With LASIK, patients can usually resume normal activities as soon as the next day.
